ANOTHER ACCIDENT WITH ENTRAPMENT ON HANOVER ROAD

 

Feb 19th - Units were once again dispatched to Hanover Road in Straban Twp, this time in the 1000 blk for an accident with reported entrapment. Units from Company 1 arrived t find 1 vehicle off the roadway with a utility pole snapped in half. The crew from Rescue 1 performed rescue operations on the confined single patient, on completion of the rescue 1A transported to York Trauma Center and 19A was placed available by Command 1.

EQ19 COVERS FOR COMPANY 1

 

Feb 17th - The crew from EQ19 transferred to Gettysburg Fire Department after assisting at the MVA on Hanover Road. While at the station we were given a tour of the new Truck 1 which should be in service by mid to late March. Thanks to Chief Kime and F/F J. Gallagher for the tour and hospitality.

 

 


BOX 1-9 FOR THE DOUBLE ENTRAPMENT

 

Feb 16th - Units from 19 were dispatched to assist on Box 1-9 for an auto accident with possible triple entrapment in the 500 blk of Hanover Road in Starban Twp. Assistant Chief 1 (Baldwin) arrived to find 2 trapped, 1 on the ground and a large debris field on the roadway. Command 1 requested an additional Ambulance and Rescue bringing 19A and EQ19 to the scene, 19A arrived and assisted with patient care of the vehicle occupied x2, while the crew from EQ19 assisted Rescue 1 and E1-1 with rescue operations. 1A transported  the patient on the ground and 19A transported the trapped driver of the second vehicle to the Gettysburg Hospital heli-pad for trauma flight. EQ19 was released by Command and requested to transfer to Co.1 while their units remained on scene for clean-up and accident reconstruction.

MVA ON BOX-OX ROAD

 

Feb 2nd - Crews were dispatched for a single vehicle accident at 275 Box-Ox Road with unknown injuries. EQ19 arrived to find one vehicle off the roadway with minor hazards, Deputy Chief Herr held the Box to Company 19, while the crew from EQ19 checked and cleared hazards and 19A completed patient sign-offs.

CHIMNEY FIRE IN THE BOROUGH

 

Feb 1st - Crews were dispatched to 21 Hickory Drive for a chimney fire. Deputy Chief Herr onboard ET19 responded within one minute with a crew of 5 followed closely by 19A. Upon arrival units found a single family home with an obstruction in the chimney, crews laddered the roof while the inside crew removed the burning wood from the stove. After a quick extinguishment and check of the walls and attic space with the TIC, Command held the box to ET19 and 19A and completed operations.
